The Thomson X2 features a lighter, 2-bolt handlebar clamp. The interlocking handlebar clamp of the X2 makes is as torsionally strong as other 4-bolt designs, while being lighter and narrower. X2 has a low 36mm stack height. X2 is available in 2 rise options; 10 and 17 degree. Both the 10 and 17 degree stem can be run with a positive or negative rise, and the reversible graphics will be right either direction. 10 degree stems work well for average riders/amateur racers, while those who want a very aggressive aero position or who want a very upright position can use the 17 degree stem to meet their fit needs.

FAQ

Q – Can I flip a Thomson Stem?

A – Yes, X2 is built to be flipped and may be run as a negative or positive 10 or 17 degree rise stem. X2′s logo is reversible.

Q – Will X2 work with 31.7 bars?

A – Yes, 31.8 and 31.7 both refer to 1.250 inch diameter. 1.250 inch converts to 31.75mm. Some people round up to 31.8, some round down to 31.7.

Q – Is X2 safe for carbon fiber?

A – X2 is engineered to work very well with both carbon handlebars and carbon steerer tubes. All torque requirements in our instructions must be followed for carbon components to be used safely.

Q – Why did you change steerer clamps on X2? Were there problems with the old clamp?

A – We changed to save weight. There were no problems with the old clamp but it did add about 20 grams.

Q – Can I use X2 for cyclocross?

A – We recommend using X4 to avoid bar slip.

Q – What is the stack height of the X2 Stem?

A – 36mm, 6mm less than the Thomson Elite Stem.
